COPE seeks new Board Members

Local social enterprise and registered charity, COPE Ltd, are looking to recruit new voluntary directors to help take this dynamic organisation forwards into the future. Like many organisations across Shetland, COPE Ltd relies on highly skilled members of our community stepping up to give their time and skills to a cause they believe in.

COPE is currently governed by a board of six serving directors, drawn from the local community. They come from all walks of life and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.

Chair, Neil Jamieson, said “We’re all really passionate and dedicated to ensuring COPE continues to provide the key community services it always has done. This summer saw us celebrate our 25th year in business and we were delighted by wider community support we received. This is an exciting time for the organisation as we look to extend our Shetland Home Co. premises, build on the strengths of our three businesses, and continue to provide high quality skills development opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism.”

COPE would be delighted to hear from anyone who is keen to take up a voluntary role which allows them to get involved in a worthwhile cause. The role involves taking responsibility for the governance and strategy of the organisation, whilst making sure that it is administered effectively. They are particularly interested in hearing from people who have a background in HR, Business, Finance or Legal services.

COPE is holding its AGM on 24th October at 6pm at Islesburgh, Lerwick and this will be an opportunity to hear about the achievements of the last year.

If you are interested in knowing more about joining the Board you can contact COPE via email at recruitment@cope.ltd.uk or call 01595 696889 and speak to Steven Coutts, CEO.
